Since becoming company R-4, Norfolk State University has strived to become an elite drill company, since braking away from Virginia State. Over the next 20 years, Norfolk State has won at least three drill and step competitions locally and nationally. During the 80’s, Company R-4 saw its company go from the height of its existence, to a mere shadow of its former self.
It wasn’t until spring of 1991, when Norfolk State saw life again. With the intake of Michael Johns and Terrance Artis, Norfolk State started to see a dynasty be born. These gentlemen brought in some noteworthy people and won numerous awards from 1992 till 2000. These awards included the NSU Step Show, Regimental Drill Competition and National Drill Competitions.
Today Norfolk State University Company R-4, is right where it needs to be, An ELITE DRILL TEAM.
